Book Week In Schools
This week was Book Week. There was a play performed in our School Hall on Tuesday.
The play was about the Treasure Hunt that has been written by Craig Christie.
There were two tribes living on an island. These two tribes blamed each other for stealing each others song.
The Treeland tribe was led by George and the Seaveiw Tribe was led by Jessica. These two characters teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure that was their song.
The problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.
I really enjoyed the play because both the characters were very smart and Intelligent. They sang very well and were also very hilarious.
Thank you Sam and Lydia for coming to our School. We hope to see you again next year.

Nehilofi's Purse
We were sitting down happily under the Kowhai tree having our kai when Nehilofi dropped a bag of bread on the ground I said to her " Don't worry, the birds will come and eat it" She nodded at me and sat down making her self a sandwich.
When a seagull came gliding down from above the trees, we thought it would take the bread that Nehilofi dropped a minute ago, but then it took Nehilofi's purse, We both tried our best to catch up to it and get her purse, but it flew into the forest.
She panicked and panicked while saying " my purse is gone, my purse is gone" over and over again, I stopped her and told her " It's ok, we will find it". And so we split up and tried to look out for the seagull.
We were still trying to find the seagull, until I saw a white furry head moving around, when I saw it's face, It was a seagull with Nehilofi's purse on the side while sleeping. I whispered to Nehilofi, " Hey come, follow me but try being quiet as possible" she nodded at me and started to tip toe behind me while I take the lead.
We were behind the seagull while it was still sleeping, Suddenly Nehilofi stepped on a stick on accident, The bird got scared and flew off without getting the Purse, We both ran towards the purse to see if everything was safe and secured inside of it, Lucky us, it was all in there.
We both packed our stuff, jumped in the car and got ready to head home. She said to me " Thanks for helping me find my purse, I promise it will never happen again" I replied to her " It's ok, That's what friends are for, They help each other." And so we went back home.

Kiwi Sport
Today the Senior School had its first Kiwi Sport Session for this term.
Ben, from Auckland Badminton taught us some badminton skills. We used a badminton racket and a shuttle.
We learnt how to hit the shuttle using a fore arm hit and backhand hit. Ben also taught us how to hold the racket using different grips.
I can't wait for the next lesson!

Solving easy problems
W.A.L.T : solve easy Addition Problems.
583 + 246 = 829
to solve this equation, you can start in the hundred columns.
500 + 200 = 700
80 + 40 = 120
3 + 6 = 9
and of course, add it all up
700 + 120 + 9 = 829
That is how you work out easy addition problems.

My Maths
Our equation was: (294 - 167 =)
you always have to start by the ones columns.
but as you can see you cant take away 7 from 4..
so you cross the 9 and make it into a 8 and add a 1 near the 4
and go:
8
2 9 14 - 1 6 7 = 127 ( and keep going )
14 - 7 = 7
80 - 60 = 20
200 - 100 = 100
200 - 100 = 100
and now add em all up
100 + 20 + 7 = 127
